Polyaspartic coatings were introduced in the 1990s and were first used to protect bridges from corrosion. The term “polyaspartic” refers to an “aliphatic polyurea”.
Facts About Polyaspartic Coatings
What is it and How is it applied: The general public is familiar with polyurea coatings in truck bed liners and tank coatings. Today these coatings are widely used in protective resinous concrete floor coating applications. This coating can be applied with a squeegee, seal-coat broom or even a simple nap roller. Just dip and roll the coating onto the floor. It can also be applied in cold temperatures.
How long does it take to Dry: This coating is designed to dry very quickly…in a matter of hours or less. In fact this concrete floor coating system can get you back to work next-day. This quick dry process is a benefit over traditional epoxy coating.
What are the types of floor coatings: One of the primary benefits is the material’s versatility. Standard solid color industrial floor coatings, Seamless Flake and Monolithic Quartz flooring systems are common polyaspartic concrete coating systems. Recently, new decorative floor coating applications such as dye and seal and metallic floor coating systems have been developed with polyaspartic coating technology.
